Ah the sweetness of surrender. I’m guessing your new recovery course inspired this post? I recently experienced surrender, seems I get to do it over and over. It was the time around Easter. I liken it to being a drop in the ocean, suddenly being slammed against the shore and washed back out, over and over, thrashing in the waves until suddenly there’s surrender and I began to float.

I’m guessing you’re right. It comes, that’s all I really know.

Yes, the Universe will float us. It is floating us. 🙂

Thanks, Fred. I’m noticing that certain key concepts can be taken both as practices or simply as truths. We can practice turning our will over, or we can simply recognize we never had free will. We can practice quieting the mind, or simply notice that our true Self is always quiet. We can practice detachment, or notice that Oneness is utterly free of attachment. We can practice compassion and generosity, or just notice that there is no separate self, which makes us naturally kind and giving.

I recently read the Ashtavakra Gita upon your suggestion which presents the traits of the awakened being as simple truths.

All that said, I’m still a proponent of practice. It’s like smile therapy. If you’re happy, you’ll naturally smile. But if you can’t jump straight to happy, then practice smiling…and you just might notice that you’re happy. Emulate the attributes of awakeness, and you will more easily abide in the truth of what you are.

    Love,

    Kathleen

There was a broad band of your website offerings of posts and meetings, etc. obscuring over half of the page, making your surrender post very hard to read. I could not find a way to reduce or collapse it. This post itself also seemed to end abruptly (with the sentence ending in “Cannot, not will not…”

Hi Dianne, Try zooming in or out a few levels. That will cause the band to reconfigure itself to take up less of the page. BTW, it was great to meet you in satsang! <3 Kathleen

I would love to be able to do that. The Banner is huge. How do I zoom in and out on a Mac though?

You think, THAT could be an accident / a coincidence / a lucky break / a joke ?

      Funnnnnneeeeeeeee !!!!!!!

“You are precisely as You are, and that is exactly enough for Here and Now, which is Your single experience.” It’s a used car world. Reality is always unfolding in “as is” condition. What a relief that perfection is not an option.

    Thank you Sir Fredness!

Surrender is dying before you die. Beautiful post. In non-duality there’s no “I wish I’d said that”. I did.
    Thanks.

The character that seeks surrender is like a wave in the ocean in search of water. That seeking is destined for endless dissatisfaction until it comes to an observingness or a SEEING as That which is in every thing, as every thing, through every thing, and beyond every thing. The Math of One. It’s all You.

The willingness to LOOK and SEE whatever is Here totally inclusively (even the sense of a separate self) in every moment of now.

Good posting Fred – it brought forth some meditative thinking.

the way you tell things helps a lot. I can feel Myself affectionately telling me I am I, and losing the fear.

    Thank me

Did you really mean “methergine”? Look it up.

    • Fred Davis
      July 10, 2018 @ 7:37 pm

Could you put that in context for me? I don’t know when or where I used that, and I can’t take the time to look.

At about nine paragraphs from the bottom, I read: “Leading someone through an Awakening Session acts as neti-neti on steroids and methergine. It hits hard and it hits fast, before ego can retreat into its foxhole.”

If you look up methergine, you’ll either see some irony or a mistake.

Wonderfully clear post, by the way. I do so appreciate You! As Jac O’Keeffe once put it, “Thank God for Fred Davis.”

          Thanks, I’ll fix it.
And thank God for Jac O’Keeffe! She has a video from Stillness Speaks that moved me tremendously.
