A Conversation from YouTube on the Terms “Realization, Awakening and Enlightenment”
Hi Fred. Love your unteaching. Is there a difference between awakening and self-realizing? Some nondual teachers say that awakening is only an insight, an “aha” moment, and that self realizing is all there is. When self realized you know exactly who and what you are. I hear you say you have no idea who or what you are. Or perhaps I’ve misunderstood. I’d really appreciate your take on this.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. And thanks for the clarification. It makes sense. Hoping to join one of your satsangs very soon. Stay bright, you are a breath of fresh air.

Thanks, Fred. Enlightenment as the gradual result of the ever-unfolding process of clearing, leading to a state of abidance and embodiment is an excellent description.
In the Upanishads, enlightenment is described as the state of being “steady in wisdom,” meaning that the awakening experience settles into a steady state of clarity.

Hi Kathleen and Fred,
I had a Satori back in 1979 and they say Satori’s are “instant enlightenment.” I had an “Intention” of going to the highest (just for some simple human problem) oh boy!
I didn’t need to go to the Highest
(The Absolute), which is out-of-time and it’s been unraveling “in time” so to speak. My partner (ex) at the time did the satori. It wasn’t planned between us, but the intention was there wks. before and he shocked me into satori yelling “Yvonne!!” He said he seen something (maybe lack of something in my eyes) and I didn’t know what happened! And then I noticed I didn’t “see a certain part of myself in the mirror!” Something was gone! Since then, the body self was trying to figure out what happened to me. Recently I seen something I’m supposed to do for the “self” which I guess someone would call it “Self Realized” then. Fred brought up embodying (which I wondered about before how you do that). Anyway, this happens once “the heart has been lifted up,” like Christ said, you transform knowledge into wisdom (Unknowing “happened” in there somewhere, and that transforming the knowledge Is the journey of embodying what you’ve learned and “making it your own.” First it says about the process: 1.Let it in 2. Try it on 3. Make it your own (which would be the Self Realization), 4. Embody what you’ve learned. Or I say too what you experienced. I know, I know…. I said how can you take infinity into the finite (like Fred said you can’t). But something Did Happen and it happened to “this unit.” Warning: do not try my method or Satori period unless you have a Master teacher first (which I didn’t have).

No, Yvonne, it didn’t happen TO that unit. Something happened THROUGH that unit. The unit is just an animated cadaver.
