On Sunday, April 1, Fred will begin the first ever twelve-week Beyond Recovery Application Course. We will deeply examine and discuss one chapter-topic-step of the twelve-chapter book each week, how we might apply gained insights to everyday living, and its effect on our addiction(s). Each meeting will begin with a short introduction followed by a questions and answers about all aspects of addiction and recovery as seen from the nondual viewpoint. All aspects of nondual spiritual awakening will be discussed at length. Fred’s own story of addiction recovery and spiritual realization offers a clear model.
It is Fred’s thesis that at the core of all addictions, whether to substances or behaviors, is the sense of separation: the idea that each of us is a distinct, individual “me” living in a zero-sum world inhabited by billions of distinct, individual “others.” That sense is simply a naturally embedded form of denial – on the part of Awakeness. If we can crack open that denial, then we can begin to rest knowingly and comfortably in True Nature.
The truth is that the seeker is the sought: we are desperately searching for home from home. Unconscious Awakeness is a burden for the so-called individual, and we will do anything to relieve ourselves of it. The compulsions that arise in response to that mental tyranny form unskillful patterned behaviors that negatively impact experience in the relative world – our own, our families, friends, and associates, as well as society at large.
This course is suitable for people in any stage of recovery, seeking, or awakening. The course will be recorded. A link and password will go out to each participant every week, so if you miss a session, you can catch up at your convenience. Passwords will be valid through June 17, 2019.
