Letter from the Field: Gratitude Is the Offspring of Clarity
Hi Fred
Just a brief follow-up to our powerful session on Friday.
i really like the device you suggested of subtly giving form to formlessness by adding the devotional aspect of surrendering conceptualizations to, what I now call, “The Great Nothing.” By Nothing, I mean No-Thing, Everything, Oneness. I’ve always identified more as a Yogi than a Buddhist (yes, I hear the contradiction and irony of using the words “Identified” and “Yogi and Buddhist” in the same sentence) so it is comfortable to me to add a Bhakti inspiration to non-dual meditation.
Some other gems that continue to resonate from the session: Giving up nothing to have Everything; Oneness is having a Paul-free moment; that the sense of Paul is an experience that is part of Oneness. That last one is real context shifter!
Thanks again, and with much love and appreciation,
Paul

Hmmm, “surrendering conceptualizations” sounds good. Just recently too came up the idea of, in prayer/meditation, leaving “idols at the altar”. Usually thought of as more specific needs/petitions, I’m going to definitely substitute this one! And with all the swirling “christmass tree ornaments” of conceptualizations, but no tree in the middle of all that swirling, “i” am pretty comfortable with the Great Nothing now. Comfort Itself!
Thanks, Mike
