Letters from the Field: How Do I Remain in Clarity? (With an Answer)
Hello Fred,
I wanted to express gratitude for all the clarity that your work provides. The videos helped me get a lot more understanding about the nature of the non-dual state.
The only thing I look for is to remain in that state without unconsciously falling back in to the dream. Being in a depressed state, where the feeling of hopelesness is so strong, it makes me “lose myself” very easily.
Satsangs always help to get back, but when I’m in ignorance, there is strong resistance to even think about satsangs. It’s like a part of me enjoys the mental torture, at the same time thinking “I want it to end.”
I’d be pleased if you could advise me in this case.
Namaste,
Simon
Hi, Simon. I don’t recall you being in any of this teaching’s satsangs. Mine are not the norm. My satsangs are chock full of awakened beings, although others attend as well.
The willingness to push past resistance is the critical factor in awakening. Many, many people get a “pop” or a “glimpse” of truth. But even where there has been a full-scale event, it’s highly unlikely to endure without proper continuing focus on present moment alertness – right now. I couldn’t do that on my own, but I hear that people have.
I can only advise you as I would anyone else. Satsang can make a huge difference for you. You could even wake up in satsang – people have. But if you’re not presently dwelling as True Nature, then an Awakening Session and perhaps a series might be in order, if such can be afforded. If not, that’s a sure sign you’re “not supposed” to have them – until or unless you do.
This teaching does not provide the motivation for people to wake up. I can’t ever know what’s right for any other unit. I don’t even know what’s right for this one until it’s already done it. This teaching provides the means where there is already the motivation. If the motivation is not high, just notice that and relax. Not everyone is supposed to abide as Awakeness – only those who do.
If abidance is not your way, then either either learn to be content just as you are, or if your head’s not already too far into the tiger’s mouth (doesn’t sound like it is), then find something else to do with your time and money. I mean this quite sincerely. Spiritual seeking is not a daisies-and-butterflies path. It’s difficult (until it’s seen to be easy and obvious), and in my experience it requires both courage and a deep earnestness. Good luck.
All love,
Mike Zerbel

You are always ready for what THIS moment is teaching, and when that is learned/accepted, much nicer teachers appear!
