The Rubber Band Effect
Clearing up, whether in pre- or post-awakening, works sort of like a rubber band. Consciousness expands to a given limit, and then automatically contracts back into the shape of known, comfortable conditioning. But the further and more frequently that it is stretched, the easier it is to (apparently) pull it back into expansion. At some point the rubber band pops altogether and the boundless Truth that was always there is all that remains.

Great analogy. You really do have to keep expanding the ambit of awareness to overcome its default contraction. I suppose once the band breaks, then you’ve really lost your center!
