“Fred, what do you mean by the ‘Great Okayness’?”
I was discussing the Great Okayness of post-awakening with an awakened student today.
Toward the end of our discussion, I said loudly, “The house is on fire!”
She said, “I’ll have a glass of iced tea.”
This is the Great Okayness.
This is Zen.

This sounds just like an Islamic saying that became endearing to me because of this okayness it portrayed for me: if the end of the world comes and you’re planting a tree, just continue planting the tree.
And that just had me think, like Fred says the basis of the dream is “there is something wrong”, then just “noticing what I’m doing” is similar to “planting a tree”!
