What are You trying to tell yourself?
The link in this post leads to another post–it’s short–on Tammy-in-PDX’s website, Funny Peculiar… In it she (my great friend, sometimes-student, and ex-wife) talks about how the Universe has been sending her a message over and over again–for years. In her instance, the lesson is about loving yourself, meaning the unit. As ever, she offers some excellent, practical advice. I wish I’d listened to more of it than I did! She has great, funny photos (T has more computer skills than I do) to illustrate her point.
But I’d like to take her message, amp it up a bit, and suggest that you learn (right now is a good time) to love your Self, meaning Reality-As-It-Is. There’s not anything else for you to love or hate, to cherish or despise: there’s just one thing going on, and You’re It. So You might as well learn to love your Self, given that there are no alternatives. None.
“It is what It Is.” We’re so scared of that deep spiritual truth that we’ve turned it into an everyday, throwaway phrase so that we don’t have to look at it. Isn’t it time You did? And remember You can’t be other than the way You are until You are! Thus, “This is It until it isn’t!”
Moving back to the relative, unit-level view, you (meaning the sense of you) can also apply this in-your-face-until-you-get-it thing to any life lesson. Do you keep dating hopeless people who aren’t good for you? Do you keep trying to wake up the mind with the mind? Do you hate meditation? Do you notice that your radio is not the best auto mechanic? (You can turn it up as loud as you want, but the source of that awful, grinding, metal-on-metal sound is NOT going to get better on its own, and God stays rather busy, so handle it.)
As I love to say, “Repetition is the mother of clarity.” The Universe will throw the same thing at you time after time until you suffer enough to notice what It’s telling you. When you’ve noticed deeply enough that that pattern is not beneficial (I call that penetration) you won’t have to drop that pattern–it will drop you.
So, what is it that You are trying to tell youself?

Tammy is wholly wonderful. I had two great wives before I met Queen Betsy, who is perfect. She’s grateful (as am I) for all the others did to “clean and culture me up.” Without them, and a career as a bookseller, I’d probably be selling used tires and mattresses somewhere. It takes a village to raise a Fred.
All three are geniuses, and all three were Art majors in college. How funny is that? And yes, I love them all.
