Observations on The Living Method by a Student of It
The Living Method is a response to an over-saturation of non-dual teachings.
We’ve all heard that there is a freedom at the heart of experience, but there was a time in which such teachings were dispensed only to individual students, and only when the teacher saw that their minds were ready to fall open. Now, not so much (Amazon! YouTube!). In a sense, the democratization of non-dual teachings is a wonderful development. At the same time, it has a significant downside: the clearest, sharpest most direct teachings may simply be assimilated by the mind—”Yeah, I’ve heard this before, and I agree, but…”—draining the teaching of all its potency and power to catalyze a shift in perspective, from the illusion of separation to the truth of THIS.
For such an oversaturated mind, more teachings simply won’t do the trick. In fact, more teachings will likely just deepen the mental groove of conceptualizing what ultimately can’t be put into words. That’s where The Living Method comes in. It’s a radically different presentation of the teaching. It’s interactive, individually tailored, and relentless, like a compassionate jackhammer of truth.
