A Giant of Advaita

Terry and Soraya are friends of mine who live in Australia. They made a little pilgrimage to see “Sailor” Bob Adamson, whose teachings played a huge role in my coming to recognize and accept True Nature.

Bob’s guru was Nisargadatta Maharaj. Sometimes you can spot him in archival footage from Maharaj’s loft. I have a lovely confirmation-type email Bob sent me years ago in response to a post I did on him back in the original Awakening Clarity days. I would guess he wrote it in 2012. Betsy dressed it up with fine paper and a nice font and had it framed for me. Bob is still looking good at 90!

The “Sailor” part of Bob’s name comes from when he was in addiction recovery. There were two “Bobs” in his group, so they named him “Sailor Bob” because he’d been a merchant marine and watchman around the docks. It stuck.
