A Note from YouTube and a Response: “Now I Get It, Fred, but What Happens Next?”
~Daniel
Thanks, Awakeness! I love many spiritual teachers, and they are doing a wonderful job. The real question is, “What IS their job?” As you’ve no doubt noticed, that varies from teacher to teacher.
My first job is to help bring students/clients to initial awakening, just as my videos have done for you. That’s the most important move you will ever make in spirituality. Yet it’s seriously downplayed in the nondual community. Why? I’m guessing it’s because no one has any control over it, including me. There are NO rules.
Awakeness wakes up – for its own sake, not the false character’s – where it wants, when it wants, how it wants, through whomever it wants. That’s called Reality, and you will note that there is no comparison to Reality. We make up stories, we believe them, and then we’re crestfallen when our fantasies don’t come true for the imaginary being we think we are. How juvenile! It’s crazy!
But that’s how it works, and the way it works is not a mistake, but this gets too heavy and too long to go further into it here. That’s what satsang and sessions are for. At the very least, come join us for satsang, or you may very well watch as the clarity that’s currently felt is going to gradually disappear into nothing more than a hazy memory. I’m not cursing you with that, I’m just telling you what I see in the field, over and over and over again. I can tell two things from your note: 1) An awakening event has occurred through that body-mind (unit-character), and 2) There’s no clarity about it.
We confuse the wakefulness that comes via an initial awakening with clarity, which arrives in post-awakening via the clearing process. That vital, but woefully underemployed process, is the movement toward abidance and embodiment, both of which are at least scarce, and probably rare. Come join us for satsang and you’ll immediately see what I’m talking about, as most of the people in that room have already awakened, and are at different points in the clearing process. But make no mistake: it’s a room full of teachers. I’m just the ringmaster of this joyful circus.
Now, at last, in response to your question, it is normal for a strong sense of daniel to come and go for Awakeness until it isn’t. That time varies with everyone, but I notice that after twelve years of post-awakening here, and after eight years of varying degrees of teaching, from part-part time to the full-time-overtime now experienced, the ghost of fredness can and does still arise. It’s typically seen through very, very quickly, and it’s not problematic, but I have not graduated from spirituality.
I notice that this idea of total dissolution of identification is a popular one, and maybe it’s even true – what do I know? But it hasn’t happened here, And I know of no authentically awakened being, teacher or otherwise, who’s presently displaying it. The point of awakening is not to jettison relativity. The point is to be able to embrace it, regardless of conditions. l can’t claim that’s happened here.
Everything counts, but nothing matters – that’s a magical mantra! Presently, which is all I ever know, I notice that I’m rather fond of fredness, which is why I, Awakeness, have surrendered to the truth that fredness is gonna do what it’s gonna do regardless of my advice or opinions, so my best move is to step aside and let it happen, or I’m gonna get clobbered. And then the fred unit will do what it does ANYWAY. 🙂
Here are direct links to both the satsang permapost, and the Meetings page of my website. It’s great to hear from you, and perhaps we’ll meet no-face to no-face soon.
All love,
You

My getting in the way, and having opinions for the Mike unit, “caused” some of it’s apparent behavior! Non-retirement from “being” Mike, DROVE him to substance abuse. I can still see the mind clicking over, in reaction to “my best move is to step aside and let it happen”. It presents, “hmm, ‘i’m’ going to maybe then take a drink sometime here?”. And it’s “right” – about the “sometime”! I disengage from Me asMike playing with concepts about some”time” and – voila – there’s the relaxation, now, that Mike (just Me poking my head off the retirement porch) is trying to manage in time. And Mike then plays with his new toys, his experience of willingness and peace that he finds in his environment now.
