Perfectly Grounded by Mike Zerbel
I lay down in the grass today. I didn’t do it because I had just mowed it, or because I’ve been good about watering it. I didn’t plan at all to do it. I was walking across it, the sun and air were the perfect warmth, and the lawn lush. And thinkings of doings didn’t ruin the siesta. I could feel them pass through to my body as it reacted with clenching, and then unclenching as it was reminded over and over that it had been relieved of the life-sentence of being the doer. So there was still plenty of mental activity and attention called to the body, but all that not being me, I actually enjoyed it in a way – along with the grass! And of course it was more intimate, knowing the grass itself was just as much what had called this body down. And we thought of you, you also being with us, sharing this One thing going on.
I took the photo because, if you’ll recall, I love all things “hand.” The first fascination came when I learned of the Alien Hand Syndrome. In this case, “hand” wanted to remain lying on the grass, and that foreign body imposed its own will when it got up. Alien Body Syndrome!
Not wishing for anything,
Mike
